Leading Korean car manufacturer Hyundai launched the entry level hatchback, Eon, a couple of years ago. Ever since the Eon was launched on Indian roads, it has proved to be one of the most appealing small cars in India and has strengthened Hyundai’s portfolio by clocking impressive sales numbers. The Eon hatch is sold in petrol as well as a blend of petrol and LPG engine. The petrol and LPG engine combination is termed as ‘blue drive’ and comes with several exciting benefits. There are five trims in the petrol-driven Hyundai Eon. On the other hand, the petrol and LPG combination has three trims.
The Hyundai Eon’s exteriors have been designed astutely and it boasts of a few exciting features, that are sure to lure the buyers eyeing this segment. The front fascia of this entry level hatchback is simply stunning and flaunts a neat looking front radiator grille that gets some chrome additions apart from the huge company crest put on it. The front grille of the Eon is enveloped by a vivid head light cluster. This has been equipped with high intensity clear lamps that aid the driver to get a proper view while driving. The front bumper of the Eon gets a broad air dam in the center. This enables quick engine cooling. The wind screen at the front is very wide and is equipped with pair of intermittent wipers which also have a wash function. The Eon’s side profile features door handles in black color and a single driver side exterior rear view mirror.
Engine and Performance
The Eon hatch from Hyundai is powered by a high-performance 814cc-petrol powertrain. This engine has nine valves and three cylinders affixed to it. This petrol engine is quite peppy and also comes equipped with an impressive fuel supply system apart from SOHC for enhanced performance. The peppy petrol motor generates a maximum power output of 54.88 bhp revving at 5500 RPM and churns a peak torque of 74. 53 NM revs at 4000 RPM. This 814-cc, 3-cylinder petrol oil burner comes skillfully mated with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox system for efficient gear shifting.
Hyundai is of the opinion that the stunning Eon can deliver a mileage of 21.1 kmpl approximately under normal driving conditions, something truly impressive. The mileage of the Eon has been tested by authorized testing agencies based in India.
Hyundai has done a brilliant job as far as the interiors of the Eon go. The interiors are nicely done and have an innovative look. The seats are astutely designed and can easily accommodate more than four regular –sized occupants in it. The seats of the Eon come draped with plush fabric. The color scheme in the interiors is a stunning dual brown and beige. In the upper-end C as well the B pillar trims, there is also a premium floor console, refined pedestal space along with several storage options like dashboard storage and a huge glove box so that one can comfortably store small stuff within easy reach.
